About

I am a 59 years young mother of six grown up and very able children.  I was raised by a mother who had a hard time functioning in life an who blamed all of her troubles in life on me and my younger brother.

I spent many of my younger years feeling sorry that I had messed up my mother’s life.  When I did figure out that I was not responsible for what my mother felt and how her life had turned out I also figured out exactly what I WOULD NOT DO AND SAY to my own children (if I had any).

I began noting all the ways my parenting would be different from my mother’s.  All of the things she did and said that were, to me, unfair and unconscionable were I studiously noted to avoid and thus my road to parenting began as a child.

So, I guess, in a way, I have my mother to thank for all I do for children now.
